NAAR worldwide.

At Nørre Aaby Realskole we do more than teach our students to be good citizens of Denmark. They also come to understand themselves as being part of a global society. Our teachers ensure that every subject we teach also has an international dimension. On this page we will describe some of the projects and subjects that in particular provide NAAR students with an international perspective.

Eighth-grade exchange programme.

Every year we exchange 8th grade students with our sister school, Eichenschule in Scheessel, Germany. The Danish students visit their German counterparts for one week, during which time they also live with the German families. And for one week, the German students do the same with our students and their families. The exchange provides students with insights into each other’s culture and school systems, and they get lots of practice in using both German and English in real-life communication.

Sister school in Germany.

Goethe-Zertifikat.

In April the oldest students have the opportunity to take a written and oral test in German to gain a Goethe-Zertificat. They thus gain a B1 level in German, which lies just above the level of the Danish primary and lower secondary school exit exam. With a Goethe-Zertifikat, students have an internationally recognised proof of proficiency that enables them to make their way and exchange information in the German language at an ordinary, everyday level. It is the teacher of German who, together with the student, decides whether the student is required to take this test.

The project theme was learning environments.

Erasmus+.

Nørre Aaby Realskole always participates in a variety of projects supported by Erasmus+. Erasmus+ is an EU programme offering subsidies to projects that strengthen the quality of education across borders and promote transnational and European cooperation in the area of education. NAAR can thus seek partnerships with schools in other EU countries in the programme. Projects must focus on one or more of the following education-related activities: best practice exchanges, development and testing of new, innovative practices, approval/validation of competences, skills and knowledge, regional cooperation between authorities, and transnational cooperation to promote entrepreneurship (including social entrepreneurship).
